A Modern Approach to Doctoral Research
In the evolving digital era, Distance Learning doctoral programs have become a highly effective alternative to traditional campus-based study models. Numerous international surveys and academic assessments have demonstrated that research-based PhD programs delivered through Distance Learning can offer professional and academic value comparable to traditional systems, particularly when offered by reputable institutions committed to academic excellence and professional development.
The Hollywood International University’s doctoral programs emphasize:
- Independent academic research
- Professional expertise
- Specialized knowledge development
- Global accessibility through digital learning platforms
Our academic framework is specifically structured for professionals operating within today’s fast-paced, globally connected environment. Study materials, research resources, and academic guidance are accessible from anywhere in the world through digital devices, allowing candidates to progress according to their own schedules.
Nature of the PhD Program
The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is the highest academic qualification awarded by the Hollywood International University. It is granted to candidates who demonstrate advanced competence in a specialized field of study and who successfully produce an original doctoral thesis contributing to academic or professional knowledge.
A PhD by Research via Distance Learning consists of:
- Independent theoretical research within a selected academic discipline
- Development of specialized subject expertise
- Preparation of an original doctoral thesis
Unlike traditional semester-based doctoral programs, the Hollywood International University’s PhD structure does not follow fixed academic terms. Instead, it is based on autonomous research culminating in the submission of a final doctoral thesis, which is typically completed within 24 months.
Students are encouraged to work independently throughout the research process. Academic supervisors act as specialized consultants who provide expert guidance and evaluation support rather than functioning as conventional tutors. Candidates may utilize textbooks, peer-reviewed publications, digital academic resources, and the University’s online library in conducting their research.
Thesis Requirements and Academic Credits
The PhD Degree is awarded upon the successful completion and defense of the final doctoral thesis within the chosen academic major.
Program requirements include:
- Completion of a minimum of 65 academic credits beyond the Master’s level
- Submission of an original doctoral thesis with a minimum length of 90–100 pages
- Evaluation by the University’s Academic Committee
In certain cases, previously published academic or professional work may be considered relevant for doctoral credit evaluation. Where necessary, additional in-depth written reports (typically 15–20 pages each) based on assigned academic literature may be requested to fulfill credit requirements.
Due to the Distance Learning format, doctoral programs requiring laboratory work or professional practice components cannot be conducted through this modality.
Admission Requirements
To be admitted into the PhD by Research program, applicants must:
- Hold a Master’s Degree or internationally recognized equivalent
